fire alarm systems, fire system upgrades, emergency lighting systems, and portable fire extinguishers. With in-depth
knowledge of current installation guidelines from BS 5839 Part 1: 2017, BS5266 Part 1: 2016, and IEE 18th Edition standards, they have the sort of service skills essential to safeguard your premises and your personnel. For further peace of mind, we offer our service-contracted customers the reassurance of 24-hour call-out cover.
Correct Maintenance of Fire Alarm Systems
If your fire alarm is not covered by a maintenance program, it does not comply with BS 5839. The recommended period between successive inspection and service visits should not exceed six months. Failure to adhere to this recommendation will mean the system is no longer compliant with BS 5839. Under the FSO, the ‘responsible person (usually the owner, employer, or occupier of business or industrial premises) must conduct a fire safety risk assessment and implement and maintain a fire management plan. With years of experience servicing fire alarms, we have a wide knowledge and experience of most makes and models of Fire alarms, be it a conventional or addressable systems. We have many years of experience in giving continued fire protection by ensuring fire alarms are maintained in effective working order. We also stock a range of replacement smoke detectors, heat detectors, manual call points, and fire alarm panels.
Maintaining Emergency Lighting
Without regular servicing, electrical maintenance, and inspection of your emergency lighting you will be unable to guarantee the correct operation of the lighting units - putting lives at risk in the event of an emergency. Because emergency lights are designed to illuminate exit routes in cases of fire, the regular testing of emergency lighting is of paramount importance for all businesses. Emergency lighting units operate automatically for between one and three hours on a battery backup system. These systems, as with all batteries, must be regularly checked and tested to ensure that, in an emergency, the emergency lighting will work for the correct duration of time. We offer a full electrical maintenance and inspection service plan to ensure that your emergency lighting operates safely and efficiently. Full documentation and certification are provided on completion of the service.
Maintaining Fire Extinguishers
Fire extinguisher maintenance and servicing is the legal duty of the ‘responsible person’ for the premises where they are located. As an enforcing authority, the Fire and Rescue Authority can demand the provision of such equipment. It is recommended that routine examinations of extinguishers should be carried out every week by members of the workforce. While it is a requirement of BS 5306 Part 3 that more detailed maintenance procedures be carried out by a 'competent person' on an annual basis.
